Thus, my design is the same as my Lord’s.
Next, there is a fear of attack and/or personal threats that comes to me for any boldness in revealing issues of Islam, Allah, and the Prophet Muhammad, which may prompt questions or require Spiritual discernment. But I remember Matthew 10:28.
The issue of fear is all the more real for my writing on the “Satanic Verses”, when I recall the fatawa that was issued for the murder of Salman Rushdie because of his fictitious novel “Satanic Verses”.(June 19, 2007, This is appears prescient, in light of world events over the past 24 hours in Great Brittan and Pakistan; read story)
The novel is based on the same Islamic information that is detailed below. Also, it is important to understand that Mr. Rushdie did not write the “Satanic Verses”. He wrote a fictitious novel that was named “The Satanic Verses”, which surrounds the existence of verses that are recorded in the “Sira” or “Sirah”, i.e. Sirah Rasul Allah (Life of the Apostle of God) or Sirat Nabawiyya (Life of the Prophet) (from Arabic سيرة), the Sirah were written by Ibn Ishaq and is the earliest surviving traditional biography of Muhammad and was written less than 150 years after his death. The above information is all drawn from Wikipedia and I encourage all who are interested to review these links and any associated links that you might find on these pages.
Also, in the interest of full disclosure, you will note in your research of the links above that many Muslim scholars will dispute the actual existence of the “Satanic Verses”, which Ibn Ishaq recorded as being historically accurate. They dispute his record of these verses, while at the same time revering the work of Ibn Ishaq as foundational to the fundamental tenets of Islam and recording the practices the Prophet Muhammad.
Ibn Ishaq is called one of the The Tābi‘īn (“Followers”) Arabic: التابعين , by most Muslim scholars. This term is reserved for the generation who immediately followed the Prophet’s death.
It is my opinion, that if one revere’s the man “Ibn Ishaq” for his historical contribution to Islam, i.e. the Sirah, then you must also, logically accept his words, over the words of skeptics from subsequent generations. But, I understand that many disagree with this opinion for various reasons. Please post those reasons if you do disagree with me.
Furthermore, I am always attempting to find & ascertain truth. I recognize that I am biased, just as all humans are biased by personal experiences, which come from many quarters, such as culture. However, I am willing to place my biases up against logic & generally confirmed historical documentation and if my biases are not up to the challenge or appear to be lacking veracity I will give them up. There are examples of this “open mindedness”, (I prefer the term “integrity”), posted on this web log.
With these caveats stated, I am hopeful that if any should find fault with my citations of history on this issue (or any other) or my logical application of reason to the former, that you will post your exceptions and any supporting documentation for those exceptions, without threats or offensive expressions of anger.
Again, I am seeking truth and am not offering condemnation of anyone, regardless of who they are or what they believe or disbelieve.
The Qur’an is, according to the adherents of Islam, the directly dictated words of Allah. Thus, the word’s found in the Arabic copies of the Qur’an are literally the very spoken words of Allah.
Islam has an incongruous paradox on this point, because, there is a section of the Qur’an that has been redacted, it is the section called the “Satanic Verses.” These verses apparently did not comport with the generally accepted tenets of what many early Muslims wanted to believe or have taught in the name of Allah.
Therefore, with respect to these verses they claim that Satan tricked Mohammad and only “appeared” to be Allah, and that the Devil spoke to him these lies, which were dutifully recorded into the body of the Qur’an.
Please consider this for a moment, the Qur’an is in jeopardy, when it’s most devout believers can on the one hand say that “the Qur’an is the very words of God (Allah?)”, but on the other hand also say that “Satan is so shrewd and deceptive that he is able to persuade the Prophet Muhammad, that he (Satan himself) is Allah.
Consider this. If, 1) God may appear to be Satan, and 2) Satan may appear to be God, and 3) he is unable to distinguish between them.
How could I trust what he attributes to God?
It is a logical conundrum that the believers must resolve.
So, please think for a few moments about what I’ve outlined above. The resulting admission, by Islam, of the existence of the “Satanic Verses” means that the directly dictated Words of Allah (The Qur’an) are also the directly dictated words of satan (The Qur’an), and this is presented by Islam’s very own teachings from Ibn Ishaq and the Sirah.
People, at this point, have only two options. The first is that we accept that there is an impossibly irreconcilable paradox in Islam and we are comfortable with this. Or secondly, we do not accept the paradox, but rather we search for and consider a resolution to the paradox by understanding that Mohammad’s god “Allah”, was not in-fact the same person as Yahweh, Jesus, the Father, or God’s Holy Spirit
God bless,

Here are some questions to be answered, and the theme to the answer may permeate future posts, because, philosophy is seldom isolated to any specific Q&A. Instead philosophy should be considered holistic thought therapy.
